No. 15
Outfits, imaginary storefronts, live music, and delicious café fare.
Hey 👋
I drew some more stuff. Maybe there are some little stories unfolding here…
Like this lady, with the big fluffy dreamy hair, holding a key.
What’s she up to with that key?
She’s got a bag, too. Sort of a medium-sized bag, or even a small bag by some standards (mine). It’s made from woven leather. Her pants have pleats and a tapered shape. Her shirt is one of those corset-style tops. (Which is funny to think about from a fashion history perspective. What would people from the past think of us and our little trends? “Undies on the outside?” they’d say, although probably not with the word ‘undies’. “What’s next, naked??” they’d exclaim. And we’d say, “yes, first it’s undies on the outside, and next up is naked.” We wouldn’t tell them about swimsuits, which are undies. They wouldn’t be ready to hear about that.)

Anyway, where’s the lady with the bag and the key and the corset-style shirt heading to?
Maybe a little shop with a bay window on a little street with a streetlamp.
Maybe the bay window always has a mannequin on display, and it’s always fabulously dressed.
Maybe there are some flowering bushes out front, or a little ivy up the side. Maybe there are other shops on the street.
Maybe the streetlamp looks like it was made by fairies or elves or something — it’s too simultaneously ornate and sturdy to have come from this world or time.
(Or maybe we had nice things once, and some of them are still around, and we could have nice things again if we repaired old beautiful things.)
(Or maybe it’s not good to romanticize the past too much; Art Nouveau had its moment, but we’re here now. Maybe shut up about the lamp??)
Anyway, maybe the lady owns this shop and comes up with the new mannequin displays on her own and maybe she lives above the shop and maybe I could be the lady someday???
Cafe drawings
People crossing the street, or waiting to.
Shakshuka deliciousness.
Music at the bar
I saw live music last week and it made me feel so alive !! That is all.
Daily drawings: day 50-62
I added color to the drawing from day 50 and I regret attempting to add details to the scene outside the window. Oh well! The rubber tree plant, flowers, shelf, and windowsill turned out nice I think. I love my markers. :)
I didn’t draw as much as I wanted to this past week or two because I had family in town, but somehow I still managed to stay on top of the daily drawings at least, which I’m proud of. Making something every day feels really nice. Getting lost in a story feels even nicer.
Hope you had a good weekend!

once again inspiring me to bring my notebook and pen out everywhere!!!
I love the ‘maybe’ stories! More more more -so fun!
